‘It’s as if you’ve been wanting to go somewhere very badly and someone just shows up and gives you the key to their Porsche for free!’

A new, simpler and faster way to learn Welsh

You don't need to read or write or do any revision - you just start speaking normally and naturally from the very beginning.

But we don't expect you to take our word for it!

Listen to the first lesson right here, right now - either the northern or the southern version - and if you like it, you can access another 25 half-hour lessons for free by clicking on 'Create your account' to gain access to our popular learners message board.

SSiW Lesson 1 (northern)       SSiW Lesson 1 (southern)

We also send our learners a weekly email with free practice sessions, Welsh videos, Welsh proverbs, highlights from the forum and news about the course.

What other learners are saying:

I think the course is brilliant. I started trying to learn Welsh years ago, and took to it like a duck to nuclear physics. But I've learnt more in the last few weeks than I've managed to retain in years of trying with other courses! And I PAID for those!

Edward Evans, Prescot, Lancashire

This is the best site I have ever found for learning Welsh - SSIW appear to have cracked that 'wall' which was between the internet and language learners: I mean, I subscribed to the BBC Learn Welsh site several years ago, which was filled with cool graphics, games and all sorts, but - with all due respect - it took me nowhere. SSIW Lesson One has me speaking Welsh and listening to real Welsh - it's great! ;)

This is MUCH more fun and effective…

Since I’m from Germany, I did not have a very good access to courses etc – up until now!
Yesterday, I tried the first lesson of the course and I can only say: WOW. This is MUCH more fun and effective than any textual explanations.
Now I always listen to it on my way to school and

It ENABLES you to speak Welsh like no other course…

SaySomethingInWelsh forces you to speak, and you have to anticipate the correct answer, so there’s no ‘parroting’, no passive repetition. You need to understand what you’re saying and you need to say it quickly. The speed at which you have to listen seems pretty much the normal speed at which the language is spoken,

Very simple and intuitive…

Each lesson gives you complete phrases that you’re able to modify and use in conversation right away. I had the lessons downloaded onto my iPod, and I was able to speak some useful Welsh after the first lesson. It’s a very simple and intuitive way to learn.
Give it a go. It’s easy!

Very enjoyable and stress-free…

As someone who has been struggling to learn the language for several years, I found that even the first few lessons helped to correct some basic mistakes. Although familiar with a lot of the words, hearing the language spoken naturally helped to make the sentences flow, and the mistakes I’d been making became immediately obvious
