This course has given me renewed interest…
Feb 17th, 2010 | By admin | Category: What our learners thinkHello, I’m Garry, I’m 25, and I’m originally from Bridport, in South West Dorset. I’ve recently moved to Cardiff (3 weeks ago to be precise!) where my wife is at university studying to be a dental hygienist. She started last year, and has another year left to go. I’m a postman, and work out of the Pontyclun office, near Talbot Green. It took around 9 months for me to get a transfer up here, so I decided I’d try and learn Welsh in the mean time to give me a bit of a head start with trying to pronounce the road names!!! I used the Teach Yourself book and CD, but have found it so difficult reading, writing, listening and speaking all at the same time!
I’d just about given up hope, as I was finding it really hard, but at the weekend, whilst the wife was revising for her exams; I was scouring the internet, and stumbled across you guys via the forum on the BBC/learnwelsh site! I’m already on to lesson 2, and have learnt more Welsh in the last few days, than I had in the previous 9 months!!! I’ve downloaded the lessons on to my mp3 player, and listen to them whilst on my round! This course has given me renewed interest in the language, just when all hope seemed lost! Thank you very much for all of your hard work, and I will let you know how I fare!!
